STORM CAT RESEARCH CAREER ADVANCEMENT AWARD
The Storm Cat Research Career Advancement Award Program is a competitive
program intended to promote development of promising investigators by providing
a one-year salary supplement of $15,000.
This program is restricted to one award per year and is known as the Storm
Cat Research Career Advancement Award, named in honor of the famous Thoroughbred
stallion at Overbrook Farm* in Lexington, Ky.
The applicant must be working under the supervision of a tenured faculty
member who is responsible for directing the post-graduate fellowship experience.
By approving an application for an award, the university agrees to provide
equipment, facilities, and any other support which is consistent with successful
completion of the project.
The long-term goal of this annual program is to spur development of potential
career researchers by allowing post-graduate and post-residency students
to further their experience with techniques and general research methods
in areas under investigation by their institutions. Preference will be given
to post-residency fellows and PhD students nearing completion of their program
with a record of publication and production. In addition, the proposed program
of study should have sufficient importance and impact that the continuation
of study by the recipient would show promise for a long-term research career.
.
The Foundation's Research Advisory Committee will review applications and
make a recommendation as to the best candidate to the Foundation's full
board of directors. The deadline for applications for 2010 is Nov. 1 and
the recipient will be announced in late February/early March of the following
year.
