Instructions for Completion of Grayson-Jockey
Club Research Foundation Grant Application
General Guidelines: In order to allow tables, charts,
graphics, etc. to be pasted into the form the application includes Form
Pages and Format Pages. Navigation through Form Pages and Format
Pages is different.
This application
form was created in Microsoft© Word
2003 for PC.
If you experience compatibility issues
you may wish to access this link
http://support.microsoft.com
for support issues.
|
The FORM pages are “protected”
to preserve the layout and must be left protected except as noted
under Cover Page instructions. |
 |
FORM PAGES (Cover, Table of Contents, Professional Personnel,
Abstract in Scientific Terms, Abstract in Lay Terms, Time Line,
& Resources & Environment). Navigate through protected
pages using the Tab key. |
The FORMAT pages have been left “unprotected”
to allow for the formatting of text, insertion of graphics, tables,
etc. |
| |
FORMAT PAGES (Budget Summary, Budget for First & Second
Year, Research Plan, Other Support & Biographical Pages). Navigation
is generally best using the arrow key or mouse unless noted otherwise. |
Navigation suggestions are noted throughout the application.
If instructions are followed, font default is 11 pt Arial, the
minimum allowable. |
| COVER PAGE: IMPORTANT: |
 |
Before beginning to fill out form fields in the application,
you must enter the Principal Investigator’s name: First unprotect
document (TOOLS, UNPROTECT DOCUMENT). Double click inside header
("Principal Investigator") at top left of cover page,
insert name of P.I. Click or double-click outside field to release
selection. The P.I.’s name will then be inserted at the beginning
of each subsequent page. Re-protect document before proceeding (TOOLS,
PROTECT DOCUMENT, select OK). NOTE: Be sure to first enter
the P.I.’s name in the header before proceeding to the body
of the document as “Unprotecting” and subsequently
“Protecting” a document can result in the loss of previously
entered information.
This page is protected and will not allow use of italics or other
special characters.
FOR USERS OF WORD 2003 WITH WINDOWS
XP:
When re-protecting the document, you will
see a "Protect Document" column to the right of your
open application. In #2, Editing restrictions, check "Allow
only this type . . . ", then select "Filing in forms"
from the drop down menu. In #3, "Start enforcement",
select "Yes, Start Enforcing Protection". The next screen
allows an optional password, click "Okay" -- you do
not need a password, so leave this area blank. You may then proceed
with your application.
|
LINE 1: |
| |
Title of Grant. 56 characters maximum, including spaces. |
LINE 1A: |
| |
If this is a re-submission of a previous application, please
provide a printed copy of the original proposal and the critique
involved. Changes made in response to the critique should be included
at the beginning of the Research Plan section and should not exceed
two pages. This will not affect the 15-page maximum for the Research
Plan. |
| BUDGET SUMMARY, BUDGET FOR FIRST YEAR & SECOND
YEAR. |
| |
All amounts requested on budget pages must be in U.S. dollars.
These pages are unprotected to allow tables, lists, etc, to be inserted
or copied and pasted from outside documents. |
RESEARCH PLAN & BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES: |
| |
These are format pages and have been left unprotected to allow
you to format text, insert graphics, diagrams, tables, etc. In the
case of Bios, table layout may be copied and pasted for additional
personnel. If preferred for appearances sake, insert page breaks
between the end of one Bio and the beginning of the next (INSERT,
BREAK, PAGE BREAK) This will ensure that the first page of each
Bio begins on a separate page. It is recommended that you copy and
paste sufficient Bio pages for the number of personnel listed on
page 2, then begin with the first and complete each in order. |
COMPLETED PROPOSAL: |
| |
Be sure to return to second page and insert page numbers in Table
of Contents. |
Prepare packet containing: |
| |
1. One original printed application with signed cover page. Attach
any separate letters of support.
2. TWO additional copies of application.
3. A CD (compact disk), with the application saved in Microsoft©
Word format compatible with Microsoft©
Word 2000 for PC ( DO NOT SAVE IN IMAGE FORMAT, i.e., PDF,
BMP, JPG or EPS).
Completed application and supporting documents must be received
on or before Friday, October 1, 2010.
