The Hoof: Inside and Out

Often overlooked and under-appreciated, the foot remains the foundation of any horse. “No Foot, No Horse,” the adage still echoes today from the racetrack to the show ring. But what is actually happening inside the hoof when the horse strides along the ground? How does his locomotion affect his race? Why does he need shoes?

These answers are revealed with many others in The Hoof: Inside and Out, a full-length educational DVD from the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation’s Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit’s Shoeing and Hoof Care Committee.

Contributors include Edward L. Bowen, Bill Casner, Fran Jurga, Dr. Scott Morrison, Steve Norman, Dr. Mary Scollay, Dr. Sue Stover, Mitch Taylor, Colby Tipton, and John T. Ward.
